Farewell Dinner
Ever since we got here, Jim's been saying he wanted to go out to dinner at Howard's. But, we've had such a good time eating at home with steaks from Okie's, fresh caught fish and crabs, and corned ham, that we just haven't made it out. Last night was our last chance - so me, Jim and Jimmy headed out to Howard's. Jim's family used to own a deli called the Pumpernickel and it was right across the street from Howard's - another family-owned establishment. As soon as we were seated last night, Jim was greeted with hugs from Jackie and King, the owners, who have been there the whole time. He also ran into Pat McFeeley who was a teacher at Southern Regional High School when Jim was there!
And the food was fabulous - I had crabcakes for the first time. Another unusual note: apparently liquor licenses are impossible to come by and there is no such thing as a beer and wine license, so you carry your own bottle of wine into the restaurant with you!
So, we've said our goodbyes and we're ready. Our loft is all back together:

It's a gorgeous day.

Jim has the kayak back on top of the car and the bicycles on the back of the motorhome. Now I just gotta stow our satellite dish and pull the plug on this computer ... and we're back on the road!
Here's my very favorite quote:
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

Hi Chris and Jim ... Joline here. Yes, I found your "comments," but it's not so apparent unless you know about it. So here I am and wishing you safe travels to Kansas. I checked the weather in ABQ just now before leaving and it's HOT there, over 90. Better crank up my A/C. Talk to you more later.
Love 'n hugz ....
